What is Reach? Reach is a private non-profit organization that provides assistance with both work and every-day life for adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic head injuries in the Gallatin Valley. Reach began operating in 1974 and currently serves 88 people with disabilities. What services does Reach provide? Reach provides a range of services including residential, vocational and transportation. Residentially, Reach offers two intensive group homes for people with low self-help skills and multiple disabilities. We have two regular adult group homes for people needing 24-hour supervision as well as supported living, both facility based and community based. Vocationally, we operate a Work Center, and offer supported employment, and vocational rehabilitation services. How is Reach funded? About 75% of Reach’s funding comes from a contract with the State of Montana, through which we are reimbursed on an hourly basis to provide client services. The rest of our funding comes from profit from the Work Center, private donations and client group home fees. Increasingly state funding fails to keep up with the cost of delivering services, so we depend on the generosity of people in our community to help ensure that adults with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to live and work in the Gallatin Valley. What kind of disabilities do your clients have? Reach provides services to people with developmental and other disabilities. Developmental disabilities include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and other similar handicapping conditions that occur before the age of 22 and have a significant life-long effect. In addition to development disabilities, many of our clients have other physical disabilities including mobility, visual and communication impairments. How can I get services from Reach? In order to obtain services from Reach, that are funded through the State of Montana, you need to contact a case manager who will work with you on determining eligibility and placing you on a waiting list for services. The case management organization is HI Case Management, at 300 North Wilson Suite 602F, Bozeman, MT 59715, 587-7703. Another option for services is private-pay services, in which the consumer directly pays Reach. If you are interesting in obtaining private-pay services, please contact one of our Client Services Directors at 587-1271.Where do your clients work? All of Reach’s clients work. About 80% of our clients have jobs in the community and the rest work in our Work Center doing various production and small assembly tasks. Many community businesses employ our clients, including the Bozeman Chamber of Commerce, the Ridge Athletic Club, Bozeman Inn, Montana Ale Works, The Wok, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, Kirkwood Baptist Church, Montana State University, Chalet Sports, Sacks of Bozeman, Wal-Mart, Fuddruckers, Tri-H Stables, Rocky Mountain Roasting Company, etc. We currently have over 56 individual job placements in the community. Is Reach connected to Eagle Mount? No. Reach primarily serves people with developmental disabilities and we provide a much wider range of services including residential services, vocational services and transportation. Reach’s services are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Eagle Mount is a separate non-profit organization that provides recreational opportunities to people with all types of disabilities.Does Reach accept donations from the public? Reach is a 501 (C) (3 ) non-profit organization and under IRS guidelines, donations to our organization are fully tax deductible. We do accept donations in the form of cash, in-kind contributions, as well as stocks, bonds and other property. Reach does a number of fund-raisers through the year to raise money. We also work with individual donors to support particular projects. Reach is currently building an Endowment Fund with a goal of $1 million by 2013. The interest from our Endowment Fund will be dedicated to enhancing services for our clients.I have made a donation to the United Way and to Special Olympics. Does Reach receive those funds? No, we are not a member of United Way and only receive money from them if you specifically direct them to send a donation to us. It is easier to contact us directly. While some of our clients participate in Special Olympics and receive the benefit of your donation to them, your money does not go to Reach.
